It seems in this time of need it would be considered ignroant to be wasteful of almost any resource. But how foolish would it be to be wasteful of both energy and money on a daily basis.. pretty fucking foolish!.. Well. I'm pretty sure at this point in time we are all guilty of this act of foolishness(I for sure am!). Every year power is wasted while computers are sitting idle overnight and one study has finally tried to measure it. The final total came in at an estimated, $2.8 billion wasted on excess energy costs each year in the U.S. alone. And to add to that, On a CO2 basis, that's 20 million tons of carbon dioxide, about the amount produced by 4 million cars on the road.
To give you a small idea, to think of it in most college perspectives. A school with that currently leaves 1,000 computers on overnight, can save $28,000 a year.
All this being said, it should be pretty clear what's next. From today on, try to just turn off your computer at night. It's gunna be hard for all of us.. cuz it takes forever for windows to load, and its such a bitch to put your password in, in the morning.. but hey you'll save money. And we all fuck with that!
